I stepped into an in-progress project for one of Southern California’s largest utility providers
when the original instructional designer had to go on leave for medical reasons. I seamlessly completed a multi-module training series, maintaining the original designer’s style while enhancing flow, visuals, and learner clarity across both field safety and manager training content.

PROGRAMS: Articulate Storyline

SoCalGas needed a series of engaging, easy-to-understand training modules for both field technicians and managers. The project included safety guidance on spiders, ticks, snakes, scorpions, and other environmental hazards, as well as a four-module series on proper collection, handling, shipping, and documentation of samples.

The work was mid-development when I inherited it, requiring me to complete it while preserving the original designer’s established tone and visual style. I picked up the project seamlessly, matching the previous designer’s voice, aesthetic, and structure while enhancing clarity, navigation, and visual cohesion.

I created intuitive menus (which hadn’t yet been developed), added vivid imagery to support hazard recognition, and ensured the content flowed smoothly across all modules. My goal was to make the experience easy to follow, visually engaging, and completely cohesive, with no visible transition between designers.

The modules delivered clear, accessible safety and compliance guidance for both field technicians and managers, and the seamless blend of styles ensured learners received consistent, high-quality training across every topic.

The completed training was smooth, intuitive, and stylistically unified, and stakeholders appreciated how effortlessly the handoff was handled.
